Port-au-Prince container terminal re-design completed

Port Solutions have completed a project to assist Caribbean Port Services in their transition from the multi-terminal operation at Port of Port-au-Prince (Haiti) to a modern and dynamic container terminal hub for the region, by providing container terminal yard modelling and layout design services.

After the devastating earthquake of 2010, the Port has been operating in several separate terminals using floating pontoon quays for vessel operations.

The North Quay is being rebuilt, with a grand design for a single larger container terminal with Free Zone and industrial facilities.

Port Solutions has built a capacity calculation model for the new quay, merged yard and single gate operation for the present and future container volumes.

Port Solutions have studied the existing terminal layout and re-modelled for a new single operator yard layout, and provided future designs for conversion to RTG block layouts.  Detailed CAD drawings provided for local engineers to implement.
